17 Jun Is Your Self-Esteem Keeping Up With Your Dreams?
“What a man thinks of himself, that it is which determines, or rather indicates his fate.” ~Henry David Thoreau
Another way of saying this, not that I think I can improve on Thoreau, is that we cannot outperform our self-esteem. Our inner image of ourselves will set the limits of what we can accomplish.
The good news is that we all have the power to raise our self-esteem. I can suggest some easy practices that will help, but only if you do them, every day, consistently and repetitively. Repetition is the first law of learning and it takes diligence to reprogram your thoughts.
Watch your self-talk. When you hear your inner voice being critical of you, stop and look for a quality you love in yourself and praise yourself instead. Practice mirror-work. This is an invention of Louise Hay in which you actually look in the mirror and express your love for yourself, right into your own eyes.
Try this! I bet the first time it makes you very uncomfortable, but it gets easier and it works. At the end of every day, write down three things you did great that day; no matter how big or small. Understand that the same power that creates worlds is beating your heart and living in and through you.
Know that you are worthy, just because you ARE. Make up your mind today that you will nurture your own self-esteem just as you would that of your child. Build yourself up and watch what you can do!
You are creating your life! Choose your thoughts, your words and your actions and create a life you truly LOVE living!
